Silent Sky Project# is an international project by Dutch artist Rob Sweere. All around the globe groups of people are invited to have a Silent Conversation with the Sky. They are taking part in a growing artwork and have a personal new experience of their daily surrounding.
Silent Sky Project# consists of a series of small events, on many different locations, cultures and circumstances on the planet. All the events together make it a global happening.
Silent Sky Liverpool was Rob Sweere’s 36th Silent Sky Project and took place on board the roof of canal barge along the Leeds/ Liverpool canal on 17 Septemeber 2009
Participants taking part in the action looks at the sky for 30 minutes, while lying on their backs. Rather than a performance for an audience, in this project the action is for the personal individual experience of the participant. For each edition of the project a photo is made of the group having the Conversation with the Sky by the artist and after the action, experiences are collected from the participants by the artist and his (local) assistants.
The Silent Sky photo was printed into a large banner and displayed, along with other Silent Sky images, along the canal at Bank Hall.
